Detailed Description:
Brand New Introduction!

Our sand is mixed in a large holding facility which is fully cured before shipping. Our premium grade live sand is the best of it's kind and used in all of our show tanks on display. Whether you plan on starting a new tank or have an existing one, you will find this sand to be the very best quality available. Use either 100% in your tank or buy a small amount to just seed your own existing sand. This sand is also wonderful in Refugiums mixed with our miracle mud or Walt Smith brand Refugium mud as a substrate.

This is exactly what you want if you want to expedite the bacterial cycle of a newly established tank or simply wanting to improve the quality of an aged tank.

So many benefits to using "Live Sand" but one very important one is to have living worms and other planktonic critters that help quickly eat up stray foods uneaten by your fish or to help the enzyme culture cleanup your tanks fish waste.

Confused on how much to order?
The rule of thumb is in a standard sized tank, you should get 2 lbs. of Sand for every gallon of water or tank size to achieve 1-2" of sand depth.

A more accurate way to determine how much sand you need is to figure out how many square feet you want to cover. Multiply the number of square feet you wnt to cover by 8.5 to get the number of pounds of live sand you will need for a 1" depth of coverage. If you want 2" then double the result. This still gives approximate results, but is more accurate than basing the estimate on gallons, because it is based on the actual area you are trying to cover. Any inexactness in this calculation comes from estimating the actual weight of the sand, so the factor of 8.5 can be off a bit, depending on how moist the sand is when it is measured.
Example:
tank is 48" x 24". Floor is 4'x2'=8 square feet. 8 sq ft x 8.5 = 68 lbs of sand per inch of depth.
If you want 1" of depth then you need 1x68 = 68 lbs, so order about 65-70 lbs.
If you want 3" of depth then you need 2x68 = 204 lbs, so order about 205-220 lbs.

Biologists are just now finding incredible studies on DSB (Deep Sand Bed) systems that are a currently accepted method for creating a maintenance free and healthy system very naturally. One huge benefit we are just now learning is that a deep sand bed of 4" or more almost completely removes all toxic Nitrates, something that could only be done by several weekly water changes non-stop that especially in a reef tank is crucial.

After many years of working with LiveSand in all types of applications, in order to provide the best quality of real live sand, live organisms and the benefit of aragonite calcium, strontium, iodine and molybium trace elements, we are now able to offer our exclusive special Blend consisting of the following types... "Wholesale to the Public"!

1.Premium Quality Real Live Sand from the White Sands of the Florida Keys, Bahamas, Fiji and/or Tonga Islands!
2.Aragalive (Calcium enriched for Quick Coral Growth) heavily encrusted with millions of beneficial bacterium for instant marine cycle and conversion of any toxins in your aquarium.
3.Real Live Crushed Coral (For extremely porous sand that beneficial bacteria and enzyme choose the thrive in).
4.SeaChem and/or Other nutrient enriched substrate to aid the fertilization and promotion of plant growth.
5.Other Sand types high in minerals that quickly grow out any sea grass, coral line algae, and other plant, macro or micro algae's.
6.Live Bacteria and Enzymes are added weekly to keep a very high seeding for your tank.
7.Additional Phytoplankton added for corals and filter feeders.
8.Vitamins and Nutrients are added twice a week to our sand to keep all phytoplankton, zooplankton, pods and other thriving that will become a nutritional food source for your fish     and corals promoting excellent health and coloration!

Living Reef Imports LLC. is a world renowned importer and distributor of live rock and transships more varieties of live rock than any other distributor. This rock does not pass through several hands before it gets to our customers. We have it collected and imported directly into the United States where it is then distributed by us throughout the world. This rock is brand new but we only expect to bring in maybe a pallet worth once every couple months as it is hard to obtain. Our rock will smell and look like you collected it right out of the ocean yourself. No more concern of rotten, smelly high ammonia rock to worry about.

We also use a system of cleaning, transporting and segregating our rock making it pre-cured and free of unwanted pests like Mantis shrimps and Aiptasia. Again, because of the care and quality we bring in, we highly recommend shipping via Air Cargo or 2nd Day or faster! Customer Satisfaction Guaranteed!

Recommended Shipping:
We only recommend shipping via Air Cargo or 2nd Day Air or faster to deliver such fine quality rock in the best possible condition. Being base rock, UPS Ground is fine if better shipping conditions are not within your budget.

"Our rock flys in direct from the islands direct in less than 24 hours and not all live rock is in stock at all times because of how fast we sell it.  Some rock, especially more exotic rocks may require a short waiting period of a few days to have ordered in specifically for you direct from the islands.  Our customer service department will contact all customers to notify you if any rock ordered is not already in stock and what the estimated time of delivery will be.  No credit card will be charged until the day the rock arrives if not already in stock.  However, we recieve most all rocks at least once a week typically flown in on Wednesday evenings.  Please call us if you have any questions toll free at (800)722-0421."

Recommended Care:
We highly recommend first, that you read our FREE live rock care package specifically written to make your getting the most out of your rock enjoyable and not work. You will need lighting at least 4 watts per gallon of water with 50% being Actinic 03 Blue and 50% Day Light 10,000k. Necessary supplements are Iodine, Strontium, Molybdenum and liquid Calcium. Smaller all-in-one packages by Seachem and Kent Marine are available for nano systems. Purchase these items through us at wholesale and we will ship them with your rock FREE of any additional shipping charge! When ordering these items at the same time you place your order for your rock, our system will automatically deduct the shipping costs for you, so get your supplements now. They truly are needed. One final note, when cleaning your rock, we highly recommend the use of RockPrep™ to clean and detoxify the rock and PurpleUp™ in addition to the above supplements to pull even stronger blue and purple coralline algae out from the rock.
