The Sargocentron xantherythrum grows up to 7 inches. The small size will come to you generally 2 to 3 inches; the medium generally 4 to 5 inches; the large generally 6 to 7 inches. The Striped Squirrelfish prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim. The Sargocentron xantherythrum is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped meats, feeder shrimp. The Striped Squirrelfish is a low maintenance fish. The Striped Squirrelfish may act peacefully toward other fish. This is a hardy fish. Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F). Sri Lanka, Maldives. With it's red metallic coloration against the vivid white striping, the Striped Squirrel is an excellent and attractive addition to a peaceful Fish Only system. Very hardy and can be kept singly but prefers schools. Provide overhangs and caves. Do not handle this fish with a net as it can be easily damaged by the material.
