The Rhinobatos productus grows up to 60 inches.  This fish will come to you generally 12 inches in size.  The Shovelnose Shark prefers a tank of at least 250 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.  The Rhinobatos productus is a carnivore and likes to eat variety of chopped crustaceans, fish pieces, shrimp, shellfish, squid.  The Shovelnose Shark is a high maintenance fish.  The Shovelnose Shark may act aggressively toward other fish. Not Venemous but may bite if provoked.  This is not a hardy fish.  Able to breed.  Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).  South America.  The Guitarfish, Shovelnose Guitarfish or Shovelnose Shark are all names for a fish that is not really a shark at all, but a member of the Skate family. Prefers fine sandy substrate and grows to roughly five feet in length. Has a flattened head that resembles a ray.
