Also known as: Amethyst, Sailfin Anthias

The Mirolabrichthys tuka grows up to 7 inches.  The small size will come to you generally 1 to 2 inches; the medium generally 3 to 4 inches; the large generally 5 to 6 inches not including the caudal fin.  The Purple Queen Anthias prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.  The Mirolabrichthys tuka is a carnivore and likes to eat plankton (a few times a day), meat treats.  The Purple Queen Anthias is a medium maintenance fish.  The Purple Queen Anthias may act peacefully toward other fish.  This is a delicate fish  Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).  Indonesia, Solomon Islands.  Deepwater fish, doesn't like light. All Anthias except the Sunburst Anthias, should be kept as a trio 1 Male to 2 Females. In this arrangement, they will acclimate much easier, and act more like they would in the wild. Of course in larger tanks they can be kept in larger groups, at which point it could be best to keep at least 2 males in with 6 or more females. Although beautiful, this is a very delicate species, not recommended for the novice, or for tanks less than 180 gallons. Best if kept in groups consisting of one male, and a couple of females.
