The Pseudanthias squamipinnis grows up to 5 inches.  The small size will come to you generally 1 to 2 inches; the medium generally 3 to 4 inches; the large generally 5 to 6 inches not including the caudal fin.  The Lyretail Red Male Anthias prefers a tank of at least 60 gallons with plenty of places to hide & swim.  The Pseudanthias squamipinnis is a carnivore and likes to eat zooplankton & algae .  The Lyretail Red Male Anthias is a medium maintenance fish.  The Lyretail Red Male Anthias may act aggressive (able to harass others)ly toward other fish.  This is a delicate fish  Keep water quality high (SG 1.020 - 1.025, pH 8.1 - 8.4, Temp. 72 - 78° F).  Fiji, Tonga, Red Sea to Fiji.  Deepwater fish, doesn't like light. All Anthias except the Sunburst Anthias, should be kept as a trio 1 Male to 2 Females. In this arrangement, they will acclimate much easier, and act more like they would in the wild. Of course in larger tanks they can be kept in larger groups, at which point it could be best to keep at least 2 males in with 6 or more females. One of the more difficult species available. Best if kept in a reef tank of 100 gallons or more, in groups of 3 or more, with one being male. Frequent feeding of 2-3 times a day is necessary. Try frozen Mysis shrimp, or frozen plankton.
