Clove Polyp Soft Corals are good additions to miniature reef aquariums and can make nice displays when they encrust live rock. They normally do well in areas of moderate to strong lighting and water motion. Clove Polyp Soft Corals may sting neighbors but the effect on other corals is mild. Likewise, neighboring corals might sting a Clove Polyp Soft Coral. Also, as this coral propagates, the colony will expand into surrounding space. In general, these corals are quite hardy.Some Clove Polyp Soft Corals are green, pink, brown, or tan in color. Each polyp shows tentacles with eight branches. The polyps are closely clustered together on the base, so that when they are open, this coral has the appearance of a small, bush-like plant.

Clove Polyp Soft Coral normally does best in medium to strong light conditions. Specimens showing strong green coloration may tolerate more light than paler specimens, which might require acclimation to strong light. Temperatures should remain between 72 and 78 degrees Fahrenheit (23 to 26 degrees Celsius) and the pH value should rest at 8.3 to 8.4. The specific gravity recommended for Clove Polyp Soft Corals is between 1.023 and 1.025. A moderate water current should flow through the tank. Supplementation of iodine and other trace elements is recommended. These corals are photosynthetic but will also feed on particulates suspended in the water. It is not necessary to feed them.
