The chambered nautilus, a cephalopod, is a relative of the ancient ammonoids and a modern relative of squid, octopus, and cuttlefish. Unlike its relatives, the nautilus has an external shell. It inhabits ocean waters close to the sea floor during the day, migrating to shallower water at night in search of prey.
The chambered nautilus was considered so rare that it is often displayed as a fossil in museums. Live animals were once seen even in Public Aquariums but as they became harder to obtain, even public aquariums don't carry these beautifull animals any longer. In fact, the Public Aquarium of the Pacific located in Long Beach, California (one of our nations largest public aquariums) no longer exhibit them.
Oceanpro Aquatics, Inc. and Living Reef Imports, llc Fish Farms collect rare and very hard to obtain animals (one of the things we are well known for) and we get maybe a dozen or so annually. As of the time of this posting they are available but in either case like with all our animals, we won't charge your credit card if the animal is not available at the moment and you'll be made aware of it along with an ETA if there is a waiting list on these.
Be one of the few to actually own a living fossil and beatiful cephalopod. I'm not aware of any other company making such an offer.

Please be sure to only pick UPS Next Day Air or Air Cargo for shipping if you do not reside within the region of Southern California. If you are in Southern California, you may select UPS Ground Services as they will still get to you the next day (one of the benefits of living near our fish farms and main facility).
