Berghia Nudibranch Breeder, Verrucicornis = No More Aiptasia!
[Aiptasia killer eater]
$39.70
by Ray Sundstrom Date Added: Friday 04 June, 2010
I’ve raised Berghia in the past. I know what you mean about their voracious appetite. I ended up not being able to keep a good balance between nudibranchs and Aptasia. I started with a tank populated with hundreds of Aptasia – some monsters nearly 3” across. A dozen nudibranchs cleared it out in less than 2 months. I ended up with quite a colony of Berghia but nothing to feed them. Didn’t have the room to keep growing food/preditor, so found homes for what I could.

I have some Aptasia coming back again – growing on rock that’s sort of a mess. Lots of hair and bubble algae along with Aptaisia. It’s a quarantine tank that got innoculated with all sorts of stuff (no diseases though), and I’ve sort of let it go. I’ll let the Aptaisia grow out few more weeks and then tear the tank down. I’ll recover the Aptaisia when I do. I may just send you the rock, if you don’t mind dealing with the unwanted flora; otherwise I’ll collect what I can, and toss the rock.

Ray
