UNCURED

Uncured typically has the most color and life on it as it is raw from the ocean and completely untouched.  It's shipped in "As Is Condition".  The problem with this is the amount of life on it tends to die off such as starfish, crabs, clams, etc. while harvested and once in transit, sometimes shows up in a smelly odor often high in ammonia and nitrites which are toxic and needs to be fully cured.  Another drawback to uncured rock is that they often harbor unwanted animals like Mantis Shrimps, Fireworms or Pistol Shrimps.  Getting your rock Pre-Cured is going to be the best form to recieve the most growth and quality with the least amount of cycle time necessary.

PRE-CURED

We use a unique curing method on the islands where they spray the rock down as soon as it’s harvested from the ocean on the beach of origin.  The rock is sprayed to rid the rock of unwanted mantis shrimps, crabs and the majority of sponge material which dies as soon as it hits the air.  The rock comes to us in excellent condition, smells fresh like the ocean and looks great, just as it was collected.  The rock is than transported to us via airlines to Los Angeles LAX terminal, the United States hub for live rock imports and then tran shipped immediately from us to you!  That’s how fast you receive it.

FULLY-CURED

We have taken the rock into our facility and fully cycled the rock full of bacteria through an intricate system of vats containing all our favorite rock, sand and plant life sharing millions of organisms with one another, allowing heavy bacteria loads to build up to kill off all toxins such as ammonia and nitrite and the plants help eliminate even our nitrate.  On top of that, our vats are filled with real pure 100% Catalina Water from the ocean and tap water is never used to top off our tanks keeping all unwanted trace elements out of the system.  A very important process for reef hobbyists especially.  The rock, in short is fully cured and ready to be put, even into a fully established tank as of the time it’s removed.

Important Note:  Whether you purchase Pre-Cured or Fully-Cured rock, you should “always” follow our “Care Package” outline provided for you free to insure the safest transition.
