We emailed the link for our care package to you automatically which I would be happy to do again incase you didn’t receive it (Click Here) and we always offer a 100% customer satisfaction guarantee (see our terms on the ad).  In synopsis, we specifically instruct you to first open the box and inspect it for damage or smell it for ammonia before signing when shipping by AirCargo because when you sign that invoice at your local international hub, you are signing a contract that it was receive in excellent and live condition.

Hopefully this clears the two concerns you expressed and yes, our phones are ringing off the hook today and are having difficulty answering all calls as we only have 7 phone lines.  If you leave a message, it will be returned just as this email is.  In short, the question is what can you do from here?

I see that you didn’t add any heat packs that we offer and it’s possible you may have just froze a portion of your liverocks zooplankton.  Another reason could be if you have some sponges or other hitch hikers as described in our care package which would cause an ammonia smell.

I’ll be more than happy to help you with this no matter what the reason.  First, please follow the instructions carefully in our care package and clean the rock good.  Second, sniff each rock to see if there is one specific rock that may smell stronger than any other which would be a sign that one rock alone has possibly a cluster of clams, starfish or other which would be the reason you are smelling what you are as this rock is most certainly pre-cured!  After following the instructions, be sure to add a large bag of activated carbon, a bottle of Nitromax bacteria and your rock will completely cycle very fast for you within only a couple weeks at most if it’s as bad as you indicated.  A good filter and protein skimmer will go a long way here for you!

Finally, please keep in mind that even if the rock was completely dead which it’s not, adding the four primary chemicals needed to grow live rock which are Calcium, Strontium, Molybium, and Iodine along with 5+ watts of lighting per gallon of water at a Kelvin rating of at least 10,000K Kelvin rating will make your rock bloom with vibrant color and life!  I guarantee you will love your rock and also one last note, keep in mind that even though toxins such as ammonia and nitrite may be bad for fish, it’s excellent for wanted and needed beneficial bacteria to grow and will promote a very strong growth of it in your tank creating a true to life ocean immune system!  Patience is the hardest thing to handle in this hobby J .

If you have any further questions, always feel free to call or write and I’ll always be here to help you my friend!
